International women’s football tournament (July 2013, Berlin)

Football is contact. Football brings people together. Football is culture. Women’s football teams from North African and Arab Countries are invited to compete for a place in the tournament on the seven-a-side field. The tournament will be complemented by a cultural programme. Teams compete against each other and celebrate women‘s football culture. We are looking for teams that play against the odds, in spite of the difficulties they encounter as women football players, teams that are socially engaged and want to experience the integrative power of football.

All teams that apply for the tournament also should send one represantative to the expert forum! If you are a responsible in an organization connected to womens football in your country or in a womens football team you can as well apply as an individual person just for the expert forum:

Expert forum on women’s football and empowerment in the MENA-region (Berlin, 26th to 30th November 2012)

We kindly invite you to participate in the first expert forum on women’s football and empowerment in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) organized by DISCOVER FOOTBALL. The discussion forum will take place from 26th of November to 30th of November in Berlin, Germany. We want to exchange our experiences with and learn about

• promoting and empowering girls and women through football;
• the situation of women’s football in your countries;
• the opportunities you have and the problems you face;
• your future plans and goals;

During the seminar we will benefit from our shared experiences and develop new strategies together. Besides the exchange among each other we will meet representatives of German sports politics, like the federal committee of sports, German sports institutions like the German Football Federation and German sports NGOs. The seminar will be designed according to your wishes and expectations and it will offer trainings that really fit your needs. Results of the expert seminar will also be published in a good practice guide on empowerment through women’s football.
