Get Active: A sports & youth leader programme for refugee women in Berlin/Brandenburg
Our project „Get Active“, financed by terre des hommes Deutschland e.V. connects football & sports with working with children & teenagers: From August 2022 till June 2023 we are working with a group of 12 young female refugees (14 – 27 years) based in Germany to promote and empower them in being a leader in sports. The main goal of the programme is to enable 12 young sports enthusiasts to complete a youth leader certificate (JULEICA) which allows them to lead children and youth groups in the future.
Within our project the youth leader training is strongly connected to sports, practice and football.
The kick-off event and the first part of the programme took place from October 22 to 24 in Berlin (photos below). Workshops and questions about communication, leadership skills how to create a good training, what are the important tasks and goals when you work with young people or children etc. were on our agenda.
The second part of the training will take part end of January 2023. Afterwards the participants will organize and lead football training days for girls during Easter vacations in April 2023 to practice their new role as a youth leader.
DATES:
- 2×3-day training: October 22-24, 2022 and January 30 to February 21st, 2023.
- 3 – 4 preparatory meetings in March 2023 for the football training camp for girls in April 2023
- Co-organisation of the football training camp in April 2023

Mit der JULEICA sind die Inhaber:innen berechtigt, Kinder- und Jugendgruppen anzuleiten. Im Rahmen unseres Projekts ist die Jugendleiter:innen-Ausbildung eng mit Sport, Training und Fußball verbunden.
Die Auftaktveranstaltung bzw. der erste Teil des Programms fanden vom 22. bis 24. Oktober in Berlin statt (siehe Fotos unten). Auf dem Programm standen Workshops und Themen rund um Kommunikation, Leadership Skills, Aufbau und Gestaltung eines guten Trainings, Aufgaben und Ziele der Jugendarbeit usw.
Der zweite Teil des Trainings wird Ende Januar 2023 stattfinden. Danach werden die Teilnehmende im April 2023 Fußballtrainingstage für Mädchen* organisieren und leiten, um ihre neue Rolle als Jugendleiterinnen zu üben.
