Girls of Armenia Leadership Soccer (GOALS)
Armenia is ranked among the lowest countries when it comes to womxn in politics and leadership positions. To break down negative stereotypes and educate youth about social issues affecting Armenia, GOALS uses a sport for social impact curriculum to create informal educational experiences on and off the field. Since most of the GOALS participants do not have the opportunity to travel outside their region, these programs assist them in broadening their conceptual horizons. GOALS have managed to oversee the creation of eight womxn football leagues in under-resourced regions in Armenia, thus creating girls’ football leagues for 750 girls aged 12-17 supported by a total of 60 coaches. GOALS intend to be a pioneer in the field of sport for social impact and civic education and seek to use the festival as an opportunity to exchange knowledge and expertise on womxn’s rights and gender equality.
