Working together, winning together

Reaching gender equality is a team challenge: we need to exchange experiences, to develop new strategies, to discuss. With DISCOVER FOOTBALL we place our perspective and our knowledge as an independent NGO in different working groups, alliances, partnerships and in worldwide conferences. With the help of our alliances & partners we are expanding the network of women active in football around the globe!

The EURO 2024 in Germany shall become a beacon for human rights, diversity and transparency. DISCOVER FOOTBALL and partners formed an alliance in 2017 to ensure that sports bodies and mega-sporting events respect human rights, the environment, and anti-corruption requirements in all of their activities and at all stages of the mega sporting events process. The EURO 2024 Stakeholder Initiative is a coalition of leading human rights organisations, sports organisations and trade unions.

DISCOVER FOOTBALL joined the 62nd session of the Commission on the Status of Women which took place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 12 to 23 March 2018. We are proud to be selected for the official German delegation.

In 2017 DISCOVER FOOTBALL was the „Make a Change“ partner for the Roskilde Festival 2017, with the topic: „Cultural Equality”.  The Roskilde Festival Foundation supported three charitable organizations in Germany and Switzerland in 2017. The focus was on promoting cultural equality, including gender and rights between the sexes. DISCOVER FOOTBALL received a special honour: All festival visitors purchasing the „Making a Change“ – Ticket supported our NGO.

DISCOVER FOOTBALL has been part of the CEDAW-Alliance since 2016. The Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) is the body of independent experts that monitors implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. DISCOVER FOOTBALL wrote in cooperation with 38 other member organization the CEDAW-report for the German government fighting against discrimination of women.

Since 2013 DISCOVER FOOTBALL is a member of the worldwide Fare network. The Farenetwork is an umbrella organization that brings together individuals, informal groups and organisations driven to combat inequality in football and use the sport as a means for socialchange. Fare always supports the DISCOVER FOOTBALL Festival in Berlin.

Since 2012 DISCOVER FOOTBALL is a founder member of the Yogykarta-Alliance. The Yogyakarta-Alliance is a civil society forum whose aim is to contribute to a German foreign policy and development cooperation that are inclusive of the concerns of lesbians, gays, bisexual, transgender, and intersex people (LGBTI).

DISCOVER FOOTBALL consulted FIFA´s Human Rights Policy and participated at the Activity Update on Human Rights in 2017.
The FIFA Men’s World Cup Qatar 2022 presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the state of Qatar to showcase its technical abilities and prowess to host the world’s most watched sports competition. DISCOVER FOOTBALL is part of an international grouping of sixteen LGBTIQ+ led and focused organisations that is concerned about the lack of protections being offered to LGBTIQ+ people by FIFA and the host country organisers of the 2022 World Cup (the Qatar Supreme Committee (SC).
